
Sunday, May 31st, headed for Boston with 26 other social studies teachers from Madison School District. (Thanks to a Federal Grant we can share our experience and new found information with our students).
DAY 1 - Arrived in Boston at 4:30 pm. Used the Metro to get to the hotel. Looked around the city some (Harvard University) and went to bed.
DAY 2 - Went on the Freedom Trail (walked a lot) - including 298 stairs up the Bunker Hill monument. Went back to hotel for an hour and went on a Historical Ghost Tour of Boston that night.
DAY 3 - Went to Concord, Lexington and Plimouth Village (Mayflower II) - Cape Code.DAY 4 - Went to Fenway Park (Boston Red Sox Baseball Field) Tour - oldest active stadium in U.S. Caught a plane to D.C. Bad weather and troubles with plane - landed in Baltimore. Had to take a van to D.C.. Arrived late and went to bed.
DAY 5 - Went to Capitol, Supreme Court, Library of Congress, Arlington Cemetery and Pentagon 9/11 memorial. Then went and saw all the monuments at night (back to hotel after midnight). Pouring Rain all day.
DAY 6 - Went to Newseum (really great museum about the history of news). Claudia and I made a news video (SEE VIDEO ABOVE) Flew home. Pouring rain all day.
